If you have been following Hover Craft's Facebook page this year, you will have seen a few sneak peeks of John Kowalczyk's prints he has been working on for our Dec. 1st event. We asked John for some insight into what he has been making and here he explains:
"Mysterious Make Believe Mythology is a series of screen prints exploring different narratives that take place in the dreamy parts of my mind. I like to collage different symbols and hybrid animals borrowing from masonic and mystical images to create my language of visual story telling. I hand designed and screen printed the series this year at a community print shop in Milwaukee called RedLine. I will have prints on wood, paper, and fabric!
My friend who enjoys rapping always says..."When I'm not rapping, I'm thinking about rapping", I guess when I'm not making stuff, I'm thinking about making stuff. I am an artist in resident at RedLine Milwaukee where I hold a studio and volunteer with the community. I am also co-organizing an art event currently called 12/12/12, where 12 performances and installation art pieces by 12 artists will be taking place for 12 hours on 12/12/12 at RedLine. A life size cardboard and fabric Hummer is part of my performance."
